2010 Agenda

We hope all you had a great holiday season and are sorry to be coming back online so late in 2010. The beginning of the year has been very busy for us. Here is a quick look at what to expect from Park Bench in 2010, and what we have been up to for the past couple months.

Upcoming Projects

In the past few months, PBP has been developing many new projects for upcoming production in both the immediate future, and a year or so out. We have two feature length screenplays in preparation, one of which is being work-shopped as a concept in LA at various agencies and production houses. Both screenplays are in preparation to be sold in the future.

We also have a variety of short projects entering into production. This April, you can expect the release of “The Night Shift” a new film from R. Jameson Smith starring Zenon Zeleniuch and Julian Brand. You can also expect the release of a new experimental short written and directed by Roan Bibby.

Pedro Marnoto is also developing a short expected to be released in the fall. We are also throwing around ideas for our first venture into animation with the help of Pedro Marnoto and N. Klaus Biagetti.

All of these projects are in motion, so please check back for updates regarding their production and release.

KAIROS

Park Bench Pictures will be presented as one of the 100 Most Cutting Edge Start-up Companies at this year’s KAIROS Summit in New York City this April.

The KAIROS Society is one of the nations largest communities of young entrepreneurs. They are committed to bringing attention to the country’s most promising entrepreneurs and their endeavors. Each year, they hold The KAIROS Summit, a conference where students from all over the country can come together and share their ideas and goals. Part of the conference is the unveiling of 100 of the most cutting edge startup companies created by students.

Park Bench Pictures is honored to be named one of the 100, and looks forward to presenting its ideas there.

The Night Sailor and The Sloan Foundation

One of PBP’s upcoming projects is the short film The Night Sailor written and to be directed by R. Jameson Smith. The film is slated to begin production in the fall. Currently, PBP is raising the funds necessary to produce the film, and part of that effort was an application sent to the Sloan Foundation.

The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation believes that a carefully reasoned and systematic understanding of the forces of nature and society, when applied inventively and wisely, can lead to a better world for all.  The Foundation makes grants to support original research and broad-based education related to science, technology, and economic performance; and to improve the quality of American life.

The Night Sailor is a story about the importance of space exploration. Set in 1958, a time before we walked on the moon, The Night Sailor is a story that we feel displays the power of the imagination, and why it is so important to preserve our ability to explore and discover new worlds and technologies.

Today, funding for space exploration is literally up in the air. This is why we have applied for a grant from the Sloan Foundation to fund the production of The Night Sailor.

Wish us luck on this endeavor, and please check back for more information about The Night Sailor.

New Site!

Finally, in the coming months, we will be launching the new ParkBenchPictures.com. It will be a new website and a new look for us. It will be fully interactive, displaying all of our work to date for your viewing. Please check back soon for the site.

That is a brief look at what the year looks like for us. If you have any questions or comments about any of the above, don’t hesitate to contact us. (Just click on contact in the NAV bar). We hope you continue to come and visit. We appreciate all of your support and hope to continue to entertain you well into the future.

Park Association

Park Bench Pictures is pleased to introduce PB’s new weekly film recommendation blog, The Park Association. Every week, a Park Bench team member will recommend a film that either they recently saw in theaters or at home. The list of recommended films will be tabulated into The Park Association. These are films that inspire us and are what we feel to be the cream of the crop. The Association will include both current and past films.

Please join us each week. The Park Association will induct its first member next week! We look forward to seeing you around!
